Yet we have still not seen the breakthrough which we came here for and are still waiting. We will not give up, and will continue onwards until we meet with God face-to-face!
Amazingly, we are both able to walk without too much of a problem despite not eating anything for the last four days and nights. In fact, at one point I even felt like I was able to run a marathon! God seems to be sustaining us which is confirming that he is in all of this.
A couple of nights I have spent walking over to the river behind the house, which is where Evan Roberts himself supposedly had gone to pray on occasions. It felt quite strange sitting there praying with the realisation that this amazing man of God over 100 years ago was also sitting in the same spot doing the same thing... speaking directly to exactly the same God that I serve!! Woohoo!!
Today we visited Moriah Chapel, the place where the 1904 Welsh revival was born over 100 years ago. We were the first people to arrive at the Chapel, and had to wait around for about 45 minutes. Thus was our enthusiasm! The service was very spontaneous and we loved it, hoping to catch an element of the spontaneity and return it with us when we come back to Shropshire. The people there were absolutely lovely, one of the old ladies was talking about her grandma attending the revival services, and meeting Evan Roberts. This lady, I found quite funny as she reminded me of my late Nan in Newport, Gwent when I lived there once as a little boy!
We are now more than half way through the 7 days and nights and we are still expecting from God in accordance with Matthew 21:22. We have both also agreed that when we get back to Shropshire, we will be continuing to pray and fast regularly. In addition to this we sense the Spirit speaking to us and instructing us to hold nightly prayer meetings for revival at our local church. Perhaps this is one of the things that is being born in us as we stay here at Evan Roberts' house. One thing is for certain, during these last four days and nights I have been drawn closer to God to the extent that many times I have just melted and broke, the tears flowing under his love, this I know Ingke can testify also as witness. He is becoming our passion and all-in-all and the very reason for our existence. We are learning to surrender all to Jesus and live for him 100% whilst denying the flesh. There have been many bitter times since being here where he has convicted me personally on things which I have had to put right with Him. I can confirm that this applies to Ingke too. He is doing a cleansing work in us which has resulted in us both feeling completely clean and pure on the inside. Yet I can not help but to think that we are and always will be work-in-progress until He finally returns again to take us all home with Him on that magnificent day of the Lord!
Finally, the owners of Island House are absolutely amazing. They have offered to give us a full cooked English breakfast on the last day that we leave, in addition to a lovely barbecue by the pool on the afternoon before that! I can honestly say with all my heart that I cannot wait! On a side note, please consider them in your prayers as today we heard that they had lost a dear friend who was 12 years old to cancer. Despite not being believers, they asked us to consider them and this little girl's family in our prayers which we felt was quite humbling. We are asking God to open doors to give us an opportunity to share our Saviour's touching love and grace with them, but at His' pace.
Please continue to pray...
Love Darren & Ingke.
